TIKTOK is widely known as a short video sharing platform. However, now, the ByteDance subsidiary is expanding to even more users, especially long video fans because now users can start uploading videos up to 10 minutes long.
It seems that the 10-minute upload option has only appeared in the United States (US) and Europe, but of course it won’t be long before that option will appear globally.
“Last year, we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to be creative and to have fun on TikTok. Today, we’re excited to release a new feature for uploading videos up to 10 minutes long and we hope to reach the creative potential of our creators. around the world,” said a TikTok spokesperson.

Only a few users have received notifications for the 10-minute video upload feature, including Consultant and Social Media Analyst Matt Navarra, who posted an update to his TikTok app via a tweet on his Twitter account @mattnavara.
The analyst argues this is a way for TikTok to have a better relationship with its users and facilitate monetization.
Of course, this will also be an increasingly fierce competition between TikTok and YouTube, considering that both of them are now competing to become a video provider platform for a global audience.
Matt Navara also argues that TikTok now has to work extra hard to ensure its position as well as its sustainability as a video platform amidst the migration of its competitors such as Reels from Meta, Shorts from YouTube, and Spotlight from Snapchat to feature short videos.
“They need to be able to provide a home for long-form content, considering that vertical feeds are less suited to long-form content and more suited to short-form content, which is what they usually specialize in,” said Matt. (Ant/OL-1)
