The Minister of Communication and Information Gives Awards to 9 Telecommunication Warriors


The Indonesian Government has awarded telecommunication fighters for their services in an effort to equalize digital infrastructure in Indonesia. The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, expressed his appreciation for this service so that he will always be a role model and part of history in building digital infrastructure in Indonesia.

“The government gives awards to telecommunication warriors. This award is given so that their services and sacrifices in developing digital connectivity to remote areas of the country, can always be remembered and become role models for all of us. And always remember their contribution not only in equitable distribution of telecommunications networks but also They have played a big role in the development of our country,” he said in the Awarding of Honorary Charter to 9 Telecommunications Warriors, at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Office, Thursday (17/3).

The Minister of Communication and Information acknowledged that this struggle will provide benefits for the welfare of the community, especially the telecommunications ecosystem in Indonesia.

“I hope their struggles are not in vain, their sacrifices are part of our history for us to take advantage of developments to improve people’s welfare. We have lost people who have had an extraordinary impact on mutual progress,” he said.

Johnny revealed that he was on a trip to Europe when he received news of the incident at Site Repeater B3 in early March. “At the time of this news, I was on the task of traveling abroad in order to seek blended financing for the development of ICT infrastructure upstream and downstream,” he said.

The Minister of Communication and Information expressed his deep sadness and sorrow over the incident that took place and affected the digital ecosystem in Indonesia.

“Mixed feelings between sadness and anger, it is difficult to understand such access, at the same time we join hands to build our country so that our people are served so that Indonesia rises up and is equal to other countries,” he said.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information, efforts to build digital infrastructure to provide national digital connectivity in remote, underdeveloped and leading areas have difficult challenges due to landscape factors and transportation and security facilities.

“From the extraordinary landscape factor, transportation facilities with their own challenges to the security situation,” he said.

Johnny appreciates the workers who devote themselves to Papua as extraordinary individuals with the noble task of building digital infrastructure to catch up and be equal with other nations.

“The attack on 9 PTT workers who at that time carried out maintenance of ICT infrastructure at the B23 repeater site in the Mulia District of Puncak Regency in Papua gave him a deep sense of sorrow,” he said.

To the extended families of the victims and survivors, the Minister of Communication and Information conveyed his deep condolences.

“As Minister of Communication and Informatics, I express my condolences and deep condolences. I strongly condemn acts of violence that result in death. It does not reflect a sense of humanity, does not show the value of kinship as a nation,” he stressed.

According to Johnny, the deep sorrow felt by the victim’s extended family was also felt by the Indonesian telecommunications community.

“Let’s pray together so that the victims get the best place. For Adinda Nelson, I hope he gets strength and fortitude and he recovers as soon as possible. In the future, we hope that similar incidents will not be repeated anywhere in Indonesia,” he said.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics encourages law enforcement and security restoration efforts by the authorities so that the situation can return to conducive. “I would like to thank all government officials, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Police and private partners who have carried out diligently and responsibly in evacuating victims and survivors,” he said.

Director of BAKTI, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Anang Latif, stated that the award for eight victims and one survivor due to acts of terrorism was not merely ceremonial.

“Eight victims and one survivor of Palawan Telecommunications have a family who was forced to leave. This event has the meaning of glorifying the lives of the victims and survivors,” he said.

Anang strongly condemns the human tragedy that occurred on March 2, 2022. “There are not enough words to condemn the acts of terrorism that have taken place,” he stressed.

The Director of BAKTI, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, expressed his gratitude for the struggle of the Telecommunications Hero, his family and those who helped evacuate victims and survivors.

“Condolences to the bereaved family,” he said.

According to Anang, the incident was a deep sorrow for Indonesia. However, BAKTI of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics continues to fight for access to the rights of every citizen to have equal access to telecommunications.

“We will continue to fight for the rights of every citizen to have access to telecommunications. I hope that humanity will always excel so that this human tragedy does not happen again in Indonesia and anywhere else in the world,” he said.

President Director of PT Palapa Timur Telematika Leon M. Kakisma also expressed his deep sorrow and sorrow.

“We really miss the loss of our friends, colleagues, employees and families. When we all try to build the sky toll road to realize telecommunications access for the people of Indonesia,” he said.

There is one survivor of Nelson Sarira.

During the event, awards were given to the rescue team, survivors and the families of the victims. The handover was given by the Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate accompanied by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Information Mira Tayyiba and the Director of BAKTI of the Ministry of Communication and Information Anang Latif. Survivors and families of victims also received compensation and certificates of appreciation from BAKTI of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics as a thank you and appreciation. (RO/OL-7)
