Shure Introduces MXA920, New Standard in Ceiling Array Microphones

Streamlined and intuitive TECHNOLOGY is essential for collaboration in the workplace.

AV/IT technologists are constantly on the lookout for products that are easy to deploy in any space and compatible with existing platforms.

In addition, reliable audio capture, design aesthetics, and scalability are also expected.

Since 2016, the Shure Microflex® Advance Networked Array Microphone has set the standard for microphone technology premium array; The market-leading MXA910 has popularized the use of microphones ceiling arrays in corporate meeting rooms, education sector, and government.

Now, Shure is ready to raise the bar to satisfy the most selective AV integrators, IT professionals and end users.

On Thursday (8/9), Shure ushered in a new era of array microphone technology by introducing the MXA920 Ceiling Array Microphone.

With technology Automatic CoverageTM, The MXA920 provides pre-programmed audio capture so minimal preparation is required, dramatically reducing development time and costs for integrators.

MXA920 also uses Next Generation Array Architecture for enhanced directed capture and more natural conversation.

Plus, the onboard IntelliMix®️ DSP delivers noise and echo-free performance as well as unprecedented audio clarity and speech intelligibility for AV conferences across all room types—executive meeting rooms, higher education hybrid classrooms, corporate and government meeting rooms.

Two form factors (Square and Round) contribute to the integration of the design into the most advanced meeting rooms and facilities.

“AV conferences are only as good as the participant’s audio quality,” said Nikki Ye, Shure South East Asia, at a press conference, Thursday (8/9).

“More than ever, we now see our customers need a solution that captures sound naturally, fits beautifully into the aesthetics of a room, and makes it easy to connect participants wherever they are.”

“These modern and evolving demands are met by the MXA920, ensuring easy deployment and unmatched sound capture.”

Network audio capture covering the most challenging acoustic spaces and supporting customized applications is a big gamble for today’s professionals.

With the MXA920, audio professionals can achieve easier deployment and

better accommodate demanding applications such as camera tracking, sound lifting and sound reinforcement.

“Our experience with the MXA920 has been very positive,” said Nikki Ye.

“Tests of the MXA920 at our facility, proved that the Next Generation Array Architecture greatly improves the directional capability of the microphone, eliminating distracting background noise,” he said.

“We were very impressed with the sound quality and seamless coverage that the MXA920 provides in one of our premier showrooms. Also, no setup is required – just mount it on the ceiling and it works,” he explains.

The MXA920’s main distinguishing features as Nikki Ye describes include:

• Automatic CoverageTM Technology—MXA920 provides superior pre-configured audio capture that requires minimal setup.

Without limitations, the MXA920 works seamlessly and automatically over areas up to 30×30 feet (9×9 meters), reducing setup time and effort – potentially offering significant time and labor savings to integrators.

Coverage can also be further customized to suit different room layouts or seating arrangements, to capture only the meeting participants you want – while avoiding areas you want to exclude.

Next Generation Array Architecture The MXA920 offers more targeted shooting throughout spectrum frequencies to maintain accurate coverage of a specific area while enhancing sound quality to make it more natural – and reduce focus on other sounds in the room.

A completely new DSP algorithm allows more natural conversations for participants to be heard clearly and accurately.

Greater Application Flexibility—MXA920 sends the precise location of each Speaker to your camera control system for more accurate camera tracking.

Technology Steerable CoverageTM with audio output individually allows higher gain before feedback in Voice Lift and Sound Reinforcement applications.

MXA920 certified for Microsoft Teams applications when used with IntelliMix P300 DSP and Microflex MXN5C networked loudspeakers, for simple connectivity for end users.

Available models include rectangular (white only) or round (white, black, or aluminum) which can all be painted to match the decor of the room.

Versatile mounting options for ceiling, ceiling, pole, or wire rope configurations make it easy to integrate the MXA920 into prestigious formal conference rooms or architecturally prominent modern spaces.

The MXA920 is available in 2022 and debuted for live demos for the first time at ISE 2022, 10 – 13 May in Barcelona.

“The Shure MXA920 is the Company’s next evolution in technology ceiling array and offer users better audio clarity,” said Nikki Ye.
