Protect Mobile Users from Cyber Attacks, Protergo Launches Sentinel App

Cybersecurity company Protergo has launched the first cybersecurity mobile app in Southeast Asia called Sentinel. The mobile app will protect users from data leaks, hacks and viruses.

The application was created to answer the security needs of mobile phone users, who make up the majority of internet users in Indonesia. Protergo currently detects and blocks 15,000 attacks per day and has noticed that in the last 6 months, mobile threats have increased exponentially.

Mobile attacks in Indonesia have reached 1.3 million in the last 3 years according to National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) data. In this digital age where everyone is using their mobile phone, users have to anticipate threats or attacks.

Co-Founder of PT Protergo Siber Sekuriti Marco Cioffi said, Sentinel can detect and analyze viruses in real-time and then block all virus threats including Zero Day attacks so that they can proactively protect devices from malware.

The high productivity of mobile phone users is a challenge for data security in cyberspace. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) stated that there had been a loss of IDR 246 billion due to cyber attacks on Indonesian banks during the first semester of 2020 to the first semester of 2021.

In the January-November 2021 period, the number of attempted cyber attacks in Indonesia reached 1.3 billion. The latest data reveals that Indonesia even experienced 11 million cyber attacks in the first quarter of 2022.

“Protergo understands that Indonesians are getting closer to technology and use mobile phones for various needs, both for communicating and transacting digitally. This has an impact on the need for mobile devices that are safe from all cyber threats. Committed to providing cybersecurity services to every user, Sentinel is a solution for people in Indonesia to provide holistic protection for the mobile devices they use,” said Cioffi, Wednesday (29/6).

Sentinel offers security with firmware updates that can help antivirus work more optimally. With the Safe Web feature, Sentinel can help users secure and block access from malicious, spam, phishing, bad domains or unwanted sites using Clean Browsing DNS.

Sentinel will also check the device’s security system which includes a password, pin or other authentication required to unlock the device.

With a focus on prevention, Sentinel can help users avoid losing their mobile device thanks to the ability to track the location of the device and show users the location of the device according to where it was last logged in.

Sentinel can also prevent users from being hacked by scanning all installed apps so they can be protected against malware, phishing and viruses. To prevent email breaches, Sentinel will report any attempted email breaches thereby enabling users to change their password immediately if necessary.

More than that, Sentinel can protect users on social media, especially Instagram with the Instagram Protection feature. Sentinel can automatically check Instagram security by simply entering a user’s Instagram account.

“We are optimistic that digitalization in Indonesia will progress further with support from various parties not only in providing cybersecurity education to the public but also technology development as a preventive effort in preventing cyber threats such as Protergo’s commitment. Going forward, Protergo will focus more and more on cloud and consumer development, security and operations,” said Cioffi.

Sentinel can be downloaded from the Google Play store in Indonesia by searching for Sentinel Protergo. (RO/OL-7)
