OPPO A96 Officially Launched in Indonesia, a Mid-End Phone with Features Equal to Flagship

A Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, OPPO, has officially launched the A96 in Indonesia, the newest device in the brand’s A series.

“Our target users are from 14 to 50 years old,” said OPPO Indonesia’s Public Relations Manager, Aryo Meidianto A, at the launch in Jakarta, Thursday (7/4).

The very wide range of users makes OPPO emphasize performance and improvements in various features compared to its predecessor A95.

Starting from the screen, OPPO provides a 6.59-inch screen with a FHD resolution of 1080×2412 pixels. This screen is quite wide with a screen-to-body ratio of 90.8 percent.

OPPO A96 has a refresh rate of 90Hz, which is equipped with the Adaptive Refresh Rate feature. Thanks to this feature, the phone screen will adjust the refresh rate according to the application usage.

For example, when watching a video, the phone will turn on the refresh rate at 90Hz or maximum. Meanwhile, when sending messages, the refresh rate used drops to 60Hz.

According to Aryo, this feature was held to change the notion that the 90Hz refresh rate wastes battery power.

Moving on to the battery, OPPO provides a large capacity of 5,000mAh with 33W SUPERVOOC charging technology. This extra-fast charging was previously only available in the Reno series and the Find X flagship class.

OPPO claims that the technology can charge 55 percent in 30 minutes. In addition to fast charging, the A96 is equipped with an Optimized Night Charging feature that will learn charging patterns at night.

Efficient use of battery power is realized through the Super Power Saving Mode feature, which adjusts the CPU frequency and backlight settings in applications for long battery life.

For performance, OPPO uses a chip from Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 that supports performance as well as power efficiency.

On this device, OPPO for the first time provides a capacity of 256 GB in the A series. Compared to the previous generation, the A95 has an internal storage capacity of 128 GB.

Despite the large capacity, the A96’s storage can still be expanded up to 1TB with a micro SD card.

The large storage space on the A96 is offset by 8GB of RAM. OPPO provides a RAM expansion feature of up to 5GB, which will be useful when the phone opens a lot of applications.

The OPPO A96 camera uses a dual arrangement, namely a 50MP main lens and a 2MP bokeh lens. The rear camera supports five times digital zoom and 20 continuous shots.

While at the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera equipped with the 360 Fill Light feature to brighten portrait shots when the light is dim.

OPPO markets this phone at a price of IDR 4,299,000, consisting of Pearl Pink and Starry Black colors. (Ant/OL-7)
