Meta Wants Users to Understand Personal Data Security

The technology company Meta wants users of its services, namely Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, to more easily understand the importance of personal data security.

“Protecting the privacy and security of users’ personal data is fundamental to us doing business, and it is the responsibility of everyone at Meta,” Arianne Jimenez said at an online press conference on Friday.

Jimenez said they are building tools to be more transparent to people and give them control over how their data is used, as well as design each new product and feature with privacy in mind.

“We hope that the initiatives we undertake can increase understanding of the various privacy and security-related features that we design, so that everyone can keep their personal information safe online,” said Jimenez.

Furthermore, Meta has updated its Privacy Policy previously known as Data Policy.

“We were inspired by feedback from people who use technology, and our privacy experts, we rewrote our Privacy Policy to make it easier to understand and reflect the latest products we offer,” explains Jimenez.

He continued, the company’s goal with this update is to be clearer about Meta data practices.

“At Meta, we’ve always set out to build personalized experiences that provide value without compromising your privacy. So we need to have strong protections for the data we use, and be transparent about how we use it. That includes communicating more clearly about our practices. our data and the choices you have.”

In addition, Jimenez said Meta also includes more ways to access the controls that can be used to experience the service in a way that is right for the user.

“Users can continue to manage their privacy settings at any time and we are committed to notifying users if we make important changes to the way we collect, use and share user information,” he said. (Ant/OL-12)
