Google Maps Announces New Toll Cost Estimation Feature

Google announced that one of its services, Google Maps, has released a new feature that will greatly assist toll road users in Indonesia in getting an estimated cost for using toll road services.

The announcement was made by the Google Maps Community Manager via a community blog and confirmed the feature will be available for both Android and iOS users.

“To help and make it easier for users to decide between toll roads and regular roads, we are launching toll price estimates on Google Maps for the first time. You will see the estimated toll prices to your destination before starting navigation thanks to reliable information from local toll authorities,” said Shweta in his upload on the Gmaps community quoted on Friday (17/6).

This feature will probably be present in the next few weeks and thus begin to be felt by Google Maps users.

In more detail in this feature, users will be able to see the choice of payment methods whether to accept cash or have to use electronic money.

The price will also be adjusted according to the payment method used by the user of the feature.

Options for routes on Google Maps such as “Avoid toll routes” or “Avoid flyovers” are also still provided by Google to continue to accommodate users who avoid toll roads.

Apart from Indonesia, this feature will also be available on more than 2,000 roads in the United States and India.

Google also plans to expand the use of this feature to other countries in the next few months. (Ant/OL-12)
