Glorious! This Celebrity Chef Distributes Free Meals to Ukrainian Refugees


Ukrainians flocked to flee to safer places to avoid Russian attacks. This celebrity chef does not stay silent. He helped by providing delicious and free food.

Russia’s attack on Ukraine leaves many sad stories. Not a few outsiders are moved to help the community Ukraine for their own safety.

One of them is done celebrity chef famous, Jose Andres. This 52-year-old Spanish-American chef even visited the border region of Poland and Ukraine to visit the refugees.

He and the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) he manages, World Central Kitchen (WCK) distributed free food to Ukrainian refugees. Starting from soup, warm chicken stew, to apple pie to fill their stomachs.

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, he was seen uploading a short video on Twitter. “People of the World… Like you, I am distraught to see Ukraine under attack. We must unite as a force for good!” he said.

Then on February 28, 2022, through the hashtag #ChefsForUkraine, he also reported that conditions at the Ukrainian border were very cold, even below freezing at night. “I have met so many refugees, families who have fled and don’t know what will happen next. We will do our best to keep them from being sad,” said the chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant.

WCK itself has set up a station at the exit point Ukraine. Chef Jose Andres added that WCK plans to provide food in refugee facilities in neighboring countries. It even wants to build a community kitchen in Ukraine after the fighting stops.

In addition, at the Rava-Ruska and Shehyni borders, WCK has partnered with Caritas nuns to provide food for the refugees. The organization also expects additional assistance from the United Nations and the World Food Programme.

Most recently, on March 1, 2022, chef Jose Andres showcased his team’s efforts in Moldova serving refugees Ukraine at Chisinau Airport. They serve pasta with grilled chicken, tomato salad, and bread and local eateries.

This noble activity initiated by chef Jose Andres through WCK is not the first time. Previously he also often carried out humanitarian activities in conflict or disaster locations. In 2015, chef Jose Andres was even awarded the National Humanities Medal by the United States government for his hard work with WCK.
