Sinar Mas Land runs UGF in a strategic partnership with East Ventures, Redbadge Pacific, and Prasetia Dwidharma to support start-ups that focus on the urban life and proptech sectors. South Korean developer GS E&C will also be one of UGF’s investors and strategic partners in a long-term partnership with Sinar Mas Land in Indonesia.

There are six main sectors in urban living technology that will be the focus of the Urban Gateway Fund. These sectors are fundamental needs for future urban development, including mobility and transportation, property technology, data analysis and AI (artificial intelligence), Omni-channel retail (physical and online retail management), sustainable resource management, and smart city tech. Acceleration in the six sectors is expected to meet the needs of urban development for future generations.

UGF will provide access to the smart city ecosystem in BSD City and other Sinar Mas Land ecosystems through three stages. First, UGF provides a pilot platform and facilitates investment recipients to integrate their ideas/prototypes into the dynamic Sinar Mas Land community. Second, UGF provides various supports for investment recipients to incubate and validate solution options in urban planning development. Third, UGF also provides the best opportunity for investment recipients to collaborate with Sinar Mas Land leaders in city development and property management.

Sinar Mas Land Group CEO Michael Widjaja said in an effort to transform BSD City into an integrated smart digital city, his party opened up opportunities for start-ups to provide ideas and solutions that enrich the city’s ecosystem. “UGF provides financial support and opportunities for potential start-ups to test their solutions. According to Ricky, the supply of workers who want 9-5 hours of work is now decreasing, especially for job categories that are in high demand such as engineering, design, UI/UX, research, coaching (training)and strategy.

In addition to the flexibility factor of time and place of work, there is an underlying social tendency, especially among the younger generation, to find jobs that have meaning for their lives.

This could be doing work that has a positive impact on the world, or even just work that aligns with one’s personal values such as creativity or freedom.

As a result, companies are struggling to fill their workforce, and therefore they are looking for alternative ways to work with the younger generation. Successful companies like Google are already leveraging a contract workforce and freelancers in their business.

In fact, 54% of Google’s workforce is outsource. While SAP found that on average 25% of the workforce of the largest organizations consisted of freelancers and contractors.

According to Ricky, this scheme allows organizations to better manage their resources and maximize efficiency and output they. Organizations with flexible workforces are better able to adjust their costs based on the business environment and situation.

“We believe that there is a major transition in today’s workforce. The new generation prefers freedom, flexibility and impactful, passion-driven work,” he said.

According to Ricky, many of the target users of Solos are in Bali because they want to have a balanced lifestyle.

They go surfing and do yoga in the morning, build their business during the day, and then have a great social life at night.

“In addition, Bali is an international-scale city that attracts people from various countries,” he said.

“We think Bali will allow us to build a global community, but also still allow us to maintain our identity as an Indonesian nation,” he said.

“The unique fact, Solos is the plural word for solo – which refers to several solopreneurs working together. The essence of gotong royong is centered on diversity, building community, and working together. For us, Bali represents all of the above,” explained Ricky.

“We believe that freelancers and solopreneurs want to thrive in a mutually supportive community. For that we built a Discord community from solopreneurs and freelancers who want to take their business to the next level.”

IOH Show (THIS) First Episode Explores the Future of the 5G Metaverse with Meta

INDOSAT Ooredoo Hutchison presents THIS: The IOH Show, and for this first episode shares thoughts on Metaverse as the next big technology.

Carrying the theme ‘Pack Your Bags to Metaverse’, together with tech giant Meta, the company highlighted how Metaverse brings the best 5G use cases for digital telecommunications.

Metaverse promises the next generation of social interactions where the digital world looks realistic but not limited. Shaped by virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain, Metaverse focuses on establishing a presence in virtual universes to enhance the human experience.

Despite being at the beginning of its evolution, Metaverse is attracting large industry-wide investment globally and in Indonesia, with potential revenue opportunities, according to Bloomberg, to reach US$800 billion by 2024.

IOH Chief Enterprise Data Analytics Officer Chirag Sukhadia said, “Metaverse, which takes us to the next phase of the internet, has grown rapidly in recent years and has accelerated since the pandemic. This provides a huge opportunity for digital telcos to become entry points thanks to the advanced connectivity and lower latency offered by 5G technology. We are excited to play an important role moving forward with our large ecosystem, customer base, and extensive collaboration with giant tech partners, including Meta.”

Chirag believes the key to the future of Metaverse is a thriving ecosystem, driven by three fundamentals: presence, interoperability and customer adoption.

The first is the presence of affordable VR/AR technology devices, such as headsets. The second is interoperability, which means the ability to move seamlessly between virtual spaces while maintaining the same virtual assets; thus, technology standardization becomes important. The last one is massive customer adoption across all segments, not just the younger generation.

According to Chirag, IOH played an important role in shaping the ecosystem with its two flagship products, IM3 and 3, which have a large customer base across all segments.

In addition, the company’s strengthened collaboration with global strategic partners, including Cisco, Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia, enables interoperability. Moreover, the company’s strong commitment to providing 5G commercial services, which was launched last year in Solo, Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, and Balikpapan.

The company also plans to integrate its network across Indonesia to increase its in-room coverage and network capacity to enhance customer experience.

Donald Trump’s Social Media Will Be Coming to the End of May 2022

The social media app Truth, created by one of Donald Trump’s subsidiaries, is promised to be available to web users by the end of May 2022.

The news was delivered directly by CEO Truth Devin Nunes via the social media platform Truth.

“At the end of May we will launch this PWA (Web Browser) which will allow access from any device,” Nunes wrote.

In addition to preparing a version for the website, Devin Nunes said that the Android version is currently still in the process of receiving approval from Google as the party developing Android.

This means that if Google approves the existence of the Truth application on Android services, there is a high possibility that the number of social media users will increase rapidly.

Previously, Truth was available on the Apple App Store and was warmly welcomed by Donald Trump’s supporters.

The Truth Social company Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) was launched by Donald Trump with a mission to fight tech giants after Trump lost access to Twitter, Facebook and YouTube for allegedly inciting his supporters to violence during the January 6 US Capitol riots.

But social media’s efforts to thrive are now limited by its reliance on Google, which operates an app store with a strong dominance in the smartphone market.

The Truth app is currently only available in the United States, and since its launch on February 21, 2022, it has become the second most downloaded free app on the App Store service.

Trump began uploading on Truth on Thursday (28/4), and became his first upload on his own application after a long hiatus.

TMTG plans to go public through a merger with blank check company Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC).

The deal is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is likely to be finalized in a few months. (Ant/OL-12)
