Apple Announces iOS 16 Is Coming to iPhone 8

Apple announced that iOS 16 software is coming to iPhone 8 and newer starting Monday.

“iOS 16 is a major release with updates that will change the way you enjoy iPhone,” said Craig Faderighi, SVP of iPhone software engineering.

Quoted from Variety, Tuesday, one of the new features of iOS 16 is the lock screen setting. With iOS 16, users can add widgets to the lock screen wallpaper and choose various texts and color filters to suit their taste.

iOS 16 also features a new security system designed by Apple to help users with security at risk in cases of domestic or partner violence. This feature allows users to quickly remove access to others.

With the Start Emergency Reset button, users can easily sign out of the iCloud account. The button can also reset privacy permissions to all apps, stop sharing location, and turn off messaging on all devices.

Not only that, iOS 16 also introduced iCloud Shared Photo Library to allow sharing photo collections with up to five friends and family members. Then, iOS 16 also allows users to edit or remember recently sent messages, recover recently deleted messages, and mark conversations as unread.

Apple’s SharePlay will also be present in messages to allow users to sync content like TV shows, movies, or songs with shared playback controls while chatting with others.

The company unveiled the iOS 16 feature at the Worldwide Developers Conference virtual streaming event on Monday. WWDC22 takes place from 6 to 10 June.

Apart from announcing iOS 16, Apple also introduced several new devices such as the MacBook Air, watchOS and macOS. According to Apple, iOS 16 will be available starting June 6. (Ant/OL-12)
